Overweight/obesity among adults in Cuyahoga (BRFSS)
Overweight and Obesity levels among adults in Cuyahoga surveyed in the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) by the CDC.
The BRFSS, Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, (BRFSS) provides us with obesity and other health status rates within Ohio and Cuyahoga county.
In 2002, 58.7 percent of adults over the age of 19 are at risk for being overweight or obese based on a national study, the BRFSS, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In 2003, this increased to 62.9%.
For 2006, BRFSS reported that 17.6% of Cuyahoga County adults were current smokers. A four-level breakdown found the following
14.2% Smoke everyday
3.4% Smoke some days
35.3% Former smokers
47.1% Never smoked
